Welcome to Navy League JacksonvilleThe Jacksonville Council welcomes you to our website! The Jacksonville Council of the Navy League of the United States is Florida’s Flagship Council. We were chartered in 1954 as the first Navy League council in the Florida Region. We are proud to be members of this Council and all this patriotic, education organization encompasses. The Navy League is a civilian organization of over more than 50,000 members dedicated to keeping the American people and government officials informed about America’s national security requirements, and their relationship to our economic prosperity. The Navy League focuses particular attention on the Sea Services component of our great defense team ... the United States Navy ... Coast Guard ... Marine Corps ... and US-flagged Merchant Marine. Although the primary function of the Navy League is education, the Jacksonville Council has become a true service organization. Over the past several years, your Board of Directors has determined that service to others, and particularly to our young people, is a vital role for this organization. Our primary beneficiaries are the Naval ROTC Unit at Jacksonville University, and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Sea Cadet Squadron located at NAS Jacksonville. Our council supports the "J.U. Navy" through an annual gift to the NROTC scholarship fund established in memory of the late Congresswoman Tillie Fowler. In addition, the council presents a sword each year to the outstanding midshipman of the JU NROTC battalion. The council's other primary beneficiary is the Franklin D. Roosevelt Sea Cadet Squadron located at NAS Jacksonville. The squadron has 25 active cadets, ages 14 through 17. Most financial support for the FDR Squadron comes from our council. Each year we raise money to by sponsoring our annual “Salute to Veterans” event, usually a ticket drawing and dinner. We hope you will join us in becoming a member of the Jacksonville Navy League – this historically rich, patriotic and meaningful organization. Help us serve those who serve our country!
